5th Annual Wilmington Games 5K, Wilmington, DE, 6:30 pm



The Wilmington Games are brought to you by the City of Wilmington Parks and Recreation. 6:30 pm race start time, registration opens at 5:30 pm. The course will start on Baynard’s track with loop around the Brandywine with finish near stadium. Amenities include tee shirts and refreshments. Awards will be give to overall male and female winners plus top 3 in ten year age groups: 13 and under through 70 and over as well as top male and female walkers.  $12 pre entry till July 26th. $15 after and day of event. Crabbing 101, Rehoboth, DE, 10 am

This two-hour class will cover everything you need to know to begin catching those tasty crustaceans on your own! Learn different crabbing techniques, traps, bait and current regulations. Shark Tagging Demonstration, Lewes, DE, 6 pm


Join Jay and Ben Fleming, volunteers with the National Marine Fisheries Service, as they collect data on Delaware Bay Sharks for the Apex Predators Investigation. Watch as live sharks are brought onto the beach and tagged, and learn about common sharks of Delaware Bay and how this research provides a baseline of data for the management of large Atlantic sharks. Kids Garrison Duty, Lewes, DE, 9 am

Calling all kids ages 8 to 12 to start the day the army way. Learn what a WWII soldier at Fort Miles would have done. Join historical interpreters for morning exercises and gun maintenance, and test your work by firing the 3” gun. Limited to 12. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult. All Fort Miles programs meet at the Orientation Building in the Fort Miles Historic Area. Call the Seaside Nature Center at (302) 645-6852 to pre-register for a program or for more information. Saturday Afternoon Naturalist Program: Secrets of the Creek, Wilmington, DE, 2 pm


Spend the afternoon with one of our naturalists learning about the local flora and fauna. Walk-ins are welcome if space is available. No fee; however, donations toward our education programs will gladly be accepted. Get your feet wet and learn about life in the creek. Meet at Thompson’s Bridge parking lot. Following an introduction to the owls of Delaware, head out into the night to listen for some of the park’s resident owls at Brandywine Creek Stat Park. 20th 5K the Westside Way, Wilmington, DE, 6:30pm

This race benefits Westside Family Health Care. Meet at the Overlook Pavilion (110 S. West Street behind the new AAA Building and next to Barclay Bank).  The fast flat course starts on West Street to Water St. to River Walk to Frawley Stadium loop to Frawley Stadium and back to River Walk with finish line at the Overlook on the Riverfront.  Amenities include: T-shirts, Latin food, music and numerous random prizes. There will be a post race party next door at Firestone Restaurant's outdoor patio.

25th The Mayor’s 5Krun/walk, Wilmington, DE, 6:30 pm

This race is brought to you as part of the City of Wilmington Running Series. Race time begins at 6:30 pm, registration opens at 5:30. Meet at Rockford Park (19th Street & Tower Drive, Wilmington, DE). The course in USATF certified, starting and finishing at Rockford tower. Amenities include t-shirts and refreshments. Awards will be given to overall male and female in ten year age groups 18 and under through 60 and over. $16 pre entry till August 2nd, $20 day of event. For more information, contact Wayne S.
